Thoughts on a hot subject

Warning...This is a very cyncial look at the hotest subject on the planet currently, so don't say you weren't warned!

I find it hard to believe just how much hype there is over the subject of Climate Change / Global Warming etc...I have no doubt that the world climate is changing and that we humans maybe contributing to the current changes and further more, it is not at all a bad thing to cut back on how much toxic shit we (the human population) pump into the air we breath...However, why have so many forgotten that:

1.) The world's climate has been through more climate changes, that any of us johny come lately humans have memory or records of...We have only been here for a VERY short space of time in comparison to the planet.

2.) That in Australia, there is only going to be one large set of losers in all the hype and hood winking that is currently being undertaken by our politicians, media and big business on both sides of the over stated arguement...those losers will be every tax payer and engery consumer whether you are a climate change suporter or skeptic!

3.) The winners will be our politicians as they rack in millions / billions in extra tax revenue, something our big spending Rudd bank government is in desperate need of to balance their now way out of balance budget and i am sure something the opposision leader has not failed see the bennifits of, just in case they manage to win the next election over Kevin 07....

The other big winners are the energy companies as they have now the prefect reason jack up prices to not only cover the extra cost of this susposed planet saving tax (AKA ETS) and i am sure they won't forget to add a slice to better their own bottom line.

Finally the other parties to enter the Climate change hype winners circle will be all the dot com like clean green energy companies and government consultants, that will be earn millions in grants and other revenue further hood winking both governments and the public alike that they have some magic new technology to solve the world energy problems as well as the climate change problems....

Futher more, I to the best of my memory, from all the new stories, articles etc about the Magic planet saving E.T.S that our Government is proposing to dump on us, am yet to understand how imposing this new TAX (as that is what it is) is going to stop even one particale of CO2 from being pumped into the air! SO WHY ARE WE ALL SO WILLING TO SUSPORT THIS TAX IF IT CHANGES NOTHING other than making our politians look good on the global stage and fill a big hole in their budget???

Though in all of this, the thing that makes me laugh more than anything else is the fact that the people are most vocal about the damage we the human population are doing to the planet with all our planet distroying CO2, are the very people who are most likely adding faster than most, as they constantly fly from one end of the world to the other for meetings on the subject! You would think if these Polititians, Scientists and so called "experts" were serious aout leading by example they would use video conferencing and save tonnes of CO2 caused by planes, hire cars and large conference venue electricity consumpution....Ironic really when you think about it!

Seems Like Only Yesterday

"So this is permanence" I think about my big brother often, 12 months after his passing, I felt it would be only fitting to contemplate how he himself may have remembered and commemorated such an event... So here are my top 5 ways i think he might of marked this very special occasion

1.) A fine cup of coffee at a favorite coffee shop with as many friends as who are free and wish to turn up for a coffee, a chat and who knows what else time permitting...

2.) There would sure to be a diary entry made....for no important event would pass by without being enshired in a diary entry

3.) A visit to the resting place, embarked on in a comfortable, polyester shirt, black cord jeans, fedora hat and sunglasses.

4.) A cafe lunch, once again with as many friends who are free to turn up...

5.) An afternoon brewsky (Maybe a beer or maybe a scotch) once again with friends, sure to continue well into the evening, coversation sure to encompass the person, for whom the gathering had been convened, as well as many other favorite topics of the time.

So to big bro, i'll do my best to remember you in the most befitting way i can, starting out by bringing you a nip of your favorite scotch, followed by sharing a fine coffee with our parents in a shop you knew well and ending out your day having a dinner and drinks with a friend...

Rest in peace mate!!

Have you seen any wombats with rabbit ears?

I was recently reminded of a story from a few years ago while on a trip to an animal park south of sydney, for the most part it was a fairly normal day with normal sights you would see at animal park....That was, until we came to the Wombat enclosure!

Sure there was a Wombat in the enlosure and strangely also a Rabbit, that was somewhat odd, not really the sort of animals you would imagine to share an enclosure...After standing at the enclosure for a few minutes we noticed the strange house mates, got up close and personal with each other, in fact very close and personal!

The wombat (quite a bit bigger then the rabbit) took the "high ground" (I still can't help but think...oh that poor rabbit) before they began engaging in enthusiastic horizontal gymnastics together!

As we stood there watching this very abnormal act of nature, a young girl standing with her parents asked "What are they doing?" to which the mother quikly replied "Oh they're just cuddling sweety"

Waiting at a traffic lights

Some months back i was walking home from the city. I was waiting to cross the road at a set of traffic lights, on the opposite side of the road from me was another young man, as he waited he took out a smallish leopard skin style vest from his man bag, now clearly after having your leopard skin vest stuffed in man bag it well, is going to get a few wrinkles! So as i watched he proceeded to try and remove the unwanted wrinkles with some quick flicks of the wrists, after several quick wrist flicks, he held it up to his face, inspected it, shook his head in disapproving manner and proceeded to repeat...This went on for serval minutes before the lights changed...Still to this day i wonder if he manged to de-wrickle his vest? But i am guessing the moral of the story is don't stuff your leopard skin vest in your man bag if you don't want the wrikled look at your next party :)

"I'm not strange or weired"

Ah, Saturday morning, stroll to my favorite cafe, enjoy a relaxed scrambled eggs and 2 well made flat white coffee's and then enjoy a peaceful contemplative stroll home...All was going well until i am intercepted by a well built Male "jogger" wearing a scary combination of very tight, tight bright red shorts (way too much visual information for 9am on Saturday morning!!) and a even tighter (if that is possible) white T Shirt! "Hi there I'm "M" (name has been suspressed...) how are you?" As he offered to shack my hand... Like a deer in headlights i sort of well, froze....he continued "well I am not weired or strange...I am not going to hurt or attack you...I'm just new in these parts and want friends" Still like a deer in headlights i just sort turned and kept on my way... After wards i felt sort of bad...but at the time he was just all way too much for me at that time on a saturday...lets face it, the coffee had not had time to make it into my blood stream, hence my brain was still on idle and just could handle the situation...

A dyslexic Blogger!....don't say you weren't warned!

Well readers, friends and unsuspecting web surfers, this is my first blog and heres hoping they will get more exciting in future posts...So how did it all start, well you have two people to blame....a good friend of mine and a doctor (in equal parts...identies of whom i will protect)!

Recently i had to have some unwanted skin paracites removed, the day before at work one of my co-workers in a most caring way says "Enjoy your last meal!" After 5 days off work and surgery complete...me know wearing the battle scars from a fight with a surgen that he clearly won (somewhat unfairly i might say...as he had a very sharp knife and powerful sleepling drugs...what change did i stand?) i returned to work, only to have the same co-worker in the same caring, concerned manner ask me "How did your autopsy go?"
